Eye Exams

Anne Matheson optometrist
Eye examinations are a fundamental part of what we do. We have three optometrists (Anne, Natalie and Richard)  and three well-equipped modern consulting rooms Our optometrists are all members of the New Zealand Association of Optometrists.

Eye Examination Services Include:

  •     Comprehensive eye exams - vision assessment, determination of spectacle prescription, internal and external eye disease assessment, assessment of depth perception, colour vision, eye muscle co-ordination, pupil function and eye pressure. You'll find out whether we can improve your vision and whether you're at risk of eye disease.
  •     Contact lens fitting - sorting out the contact lens that's going to meet your needs.
  •     Short consultations - to remove foreign bodies, treat red eyes or eye infections, syringe your tear ducts, assess sudden new developments with your vision, sort out a vision certificate for your drivers licence, find lost contact lenses and so on.
  •     Contact lens aftercares - progress checks for new contact lens wearers, which are vital to arriving at the right lens for you.
  •     Retinal photography - providing a really valuable record of the appearance of the inside of your eye for future reference.
  •     Visual field exams - assessment of your peripheral visual function - helpful for diagnosing glaucoma, and other eye disease.
  •     Civil aviation exams - dedcated exams for pilots.
  •     Dilated retinal exams - eye drops are used to make your pupils larger, allowing a more detailed inspection of the inside of of your eye.

At the conclusion of any of our exams you'll get a recommendation for a course of action which could include glasses or contact lenses, eye drops or eye exercises, a visit to a medical doctor or specialist or just an instruction to go home and stop worrying.
